B4ALL Erasmus+ Project Opening

Spanish High Council for Sport - CSD - hosted the Kick-Off Meeting of the Erasmus + Sport project 'Badminton4All - European Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Badminton'. The Spanish Badminton Federation as coordinating entity of the European Union has presented the main lines of work that will be carried out from 2018-2020 with the vision of facilitating the accessibility of people with disabilities to the practice of sport from the grassroots to the competition.

The presentation of the project was in charge of David Cabello, president of the Spanish Badminton Federation, who thanked the commitment and work of the participating partners to get the support of the European Union. In the same way, he encouraged them to maintain that commitment in order to reach the maximum levels of penetration in society of the project that is expected to suppose an exportable model at continental level, as well as other sports.

José Ramón Lete, president of the Spanish High Council for Sport, wanted to welcome the Spanish Badminton Federation and all the project partners, including the institution he chairs. Lete stressed the commitment of the CSD with a social inclusion of people with disabilities through sports, a line of action that the highest body has among its fundamental principles and whose practical proposal is transferred to the Spanish School Age Championships where inclusion begins to integrate as an inherent part of the competition in different sports, including badminton.

Throughout the day, the different technicians and project managers outlined the actions to be carried out in the different fields included in it. José Luís Hernández, technical director of the project, sequenced the actions to be carried out, determining 2018 for the theoretical and technological development of the necessary tools for implementation, 2019 for the implementation by the project's partners of the guide of activation generated and ending in 2020 with the viralization of the nuclei of inclusive practice in the participating countries, expecting a participation of between 15% -20% of the clubs that would result in the so-called European Network of Inclusive Badminton. The model that is generated will provide a legacy so that, progressively, a full implementation of the inclusive sports practice within the aforementioned network is obtained.

Badminton4All has the participation of the Spanish High Council for Sport, the Spanish Paralympic Committee, Badminton Europe, the Italian Badminton Federation, the Finnish Badminton Federation, the French Badminton Federation, the Chamartín Badminton Club, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the University of Kent. At the opening there was an extraordinary presence with the presence of Badminton World Federation, which has given its support and support to work in parallel due to the scope of the actions to be carried out.
